Tungsten halogen light sources are an important component of your ZEISS microscope. Like a household lamp, the bulb will eventually need to be replaced. When it not longer produces light or only produces very red light it can no longer be successfully used in Koehler illumination, or the bulb takes an increasingly long time to ramp up or down.
